… mixed with tobacco, ARE YOU?”
Just say no to legal drugs.
Amsterdam’s world famous coffee shops may soon face a most absurd change in politics: like everywhere else in the EU, the smoking ban that is being introduced in The Netherlands is aimed at tobacco smokers. But only tobacco smokers, apparently. So patrons at coffee shops will now have to make extra sure the joints they smoke there do not contain any tobacco — while it seems perfectly fine to blaze that green bud pure and uncut.
“It’s absurd. In other countries they look to see whether you have marijuana in your cigarette, here they’ll look to see if you’ve got cigarette in your marijuana.”
The Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority, which is responsible for enforcing the ban, said it had trained around 200 inspectors. “They can tell the difference between a mix or a pure joint from its smell and appearance,” said a spokesman.
The basic conondrum of the Dutch coffee shops is this, as one guy puts it so well in the video:
“The European Community cannot ban marijuana smoking, because it’s an illegal substance. So the European Community first has to legalize cannabis before they can ban it,” followed by a smirk from one ear to the other.
