Drugs to be partially legalized in Mexico

Seems the mexican government is contemplating to legalise the possession of small amounts of drugs – not only pot but harder things as well.  If this will come to pass, it will be big. The first government to end the senseless stupidity that is the war on drugs or, at least, curtail it. Plus other [...]

Trouble in paradise – don’t drink the water

Browsing BoingBoing this morning, I came across a rather interesting post about the island of Fiji. Apparently not all is well in paradise, especially regarding one of its prime exports – Fiji Water. The thing that gets to me here is how it is even remotely possible for a company that ships bottled water around [...]

Goldman Sucks

For everyone not following the ever more grotesque developments in finance. Here’s a terrific article by Matt Taibbi about how investment bank Goldman Sachs keeps screwing the world.
For starters, how GS is connected to the US government:
By now, most of us know the major players. As George Bush’s last Treasury secretary, former Goldman CEO Henry [...]

The detachable Penis, a pain in the ass?

That got your attention, didn’t it? So now lets talk about something worthwhile: the state of the world economy for example; or maybe global warming? Nah, let’s stick to the cool shit!
May I present, in all of its short-lived glory, King Missle.

I can’t really bring anything more recent to mind that [...]

3D Guernica

Artist Lena Gieseke has created  3D exploration of Pablo Picasso’s 1937 painting Guernica.  Using Maya, Shake and Photoshop, Gieseke separated the individual elements of the mural, and then moved her 3D camera through the resulting tableau. The idea of using spatial immersion as a means to prompt deep contemplation of a painting was inspired by jigsaw [...]

The price is right – but for whom?

This is not a very new one alright, but that doesn’t make it less questionable:
The guy who will control whether the prices the swiss pay are too high (Preisüberwacher), Stefan Meierhans…
